We encourage a healthy balanced lifestyle approach by encouraging children to participate in physical activities, to eat healthy meals and snacks and to rest on a daily basis. By promoting a healthy lifestyle and the global physical development of the child, we encourage development and learning on all planes.

LUNCHES and snacks

Lunches and snacks are planned following the Canada food guide. Fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, fish and legumes are served on a regular basis and snacks and meals are rich in flavours, colours and textures according to the season. Baked goods provided are low in sugar and in fat. We also take into consideration the allergies, food restrictions and life-style choices.

The presence of nuts/peanuts in the daycare is strictly prohibited in order to maximize the safety of children with these allergies.

gym program

Physical activity is vital in every child’s life, it lays the foundation for a healthy and active life with multiple health benefits such as development of gross and fine motor skills, improving strong muscles, cardiovascular fitness, balance, coordination and strength as well as developing flexibility.

As part of our program, St. Andrew’s offers a structured gym class once a week to assure the development of good physical habits early in your kid’s life beside the unstructured, spontaneous daily activity that promotes health-related fitness and movement skills encouraged by our educators.

music program

St. Andrew’s offers a comprehensive bilingual integrative preschool music program. All students are encouraged to explore the world of sound through singing, dramatic movement, dance, and participation in rhythmic instrumental ensembles. Informed by elements of both Kodaly and Orff, children are encouraged to perform together through rhythmic games incorporating basic rhythm patterns. All students take part in our annual Spring Concert.

nutritower

As part as of our healthy lifestyle program, we, at St. Andrew's, are the very proud owner of 3 Nutritowers. Thanks to the Nutritowers, the children can learn how to grow their own food and benefit from a year round hands-on learning experience. The gardening process can help children make healthier food choices and understand its nutritional value.
